BUNRATTY CASTLE AND FOLK PARK:

This authentic Medieval Castle built in 1425 is located on the main Ennis/Limerick road approximately 20 minutes’ drive from Dromoland. Within the grounds of the castle is Bunratty Folk Park where Irish Village Life at the turn of the century is tellingly recreated. The Park contains rural and urban dwellings along with traditional craft exhibitors.

BUNRATTY BY NIGHT:

The famous Medieval Castle Banquets are held nightly where you can wine, dine and enjoy the entertainment provided by the famous Bunratty Singers.

KNAPPOGUE CASTLE:

Located just outside the village of Quin just 4 miles from the Castle, Knappogue Castle is open to the public daily and hosts Medieval Banquets each evening. Closed October to March.

CRAGGAUNOWEN PROJECT:

Close to Knappogue Castle, the project is an example of a ‘Bronze Age’ lake dwelling or “Crannog”. The project includes a ring fort a true reproduction of a 4th or 5th Century farmer’s dwelling and the “Brendan”, the hide boat in which Tim Severn sailed from Ireland to the USA re-enacting the voyage of Saint Brendan. Closed October to March.

THE HUNT MUSEUM:

The Hunt Museum located in Limerick City exhibits one of Ireland’s greatest private collections of art and antiquities. The collection reflects our Celtic past as well as masterworks by da Vinci, Yeats and Renoir. Donated to the ‘people of Ireland’ by John and Gertrude Hunt, their generosity ranks as one of the most outstanding in the nation’s history.

THE BURREN & AILWEE CAVES:

The Burren – one of Ireland’s treasures is 100 square miles of limestone formations with prehistoric graves, ring forts, Celtic crosses. The flora and fauna here are unique in that Alpine, Arctic and Mediterranean flowers grow side by side. An interpretative centre in Kilfenora will provide and audiovisual guide to the Burren before setting off. A must for all visitors. Ailwee Caves are one of Ireland’s oldest caves it has many beautiful caverns in 8,400 feet of passages leading into the heart of the mountain.

CLIFFS OF MOHER:

Majestically rising 500 feet out of the Atlantic the cliffs span 5 miles across and provide spectacular views of the Irish Coast.

THE ARAN ISLANDS:

At 30-minute ferry journey from Doolin takes you to Inisheer where you enter one of the outposts of Gaelic civilization. The islands are an extension of the Burren with high cliffs, rugged landscape, ancient forts and prehistoric relics.
