New York City: SoHo

Like most of the developing city in the early years, SoHo (which stands for South of Houston Street – and by the way, it’s pronounced How-ston) started as a small village.  Over time, the neighborhood went from the wealthiest, to the most industrial, to a slum called “Hell’s 100 acres.”  Now it is back to trendy again.  SoHo is one of the most stylish neighborhoods in New York City, with clues of its past around every corner.  Several of its cast iron buildings built in the mid-1800s still stand.  As you explore the area, you will get the feel of its many cobblestone streets.  When artists arrived in SoHo in the 1970s, they began the revival of the neighborhood.  You’ll visit two of SoHo’s famed art galleries, including the Earth Room.  Next to SoHo is NoLIta – which is Northern Little Italy.  The area is home to the old St. Patrick’s Cathedral.  One story in particular your guide will impart is the 1799 murder of Elma Sands, the “Ghost of Spring Street.”

• Cookies, Cocoa, Caroling – and Cruising: You’ll start your journey at the iconic Chelsea Piers where you'll board a charming 1920s-style yacht for an unforgettable hour-and-a-half-long journey around the waters of Manhattan. Take in breathtaking views of the city's skyline, adorned in festive holiday decorations (and lights, should you choose to do the cruise in the evening) and immerse yourself in the holiday spirit as you sing along to classic holiday carols backed by a live band! And don’t forget Santa’s favorites – there’ll be scrumptious cookies and warm cocoa for all!

• Merry Markets & Festive Finds: Upon your return to Chelsea Piers, you’ll be greeted by your expert tour guide and a private luxury vehicle that will whisk you away to your next adventure. Over the next four hours, you’ll explore the Big Apple’s most popular holiday markets while your knowledgeable guide provides fascinating insights into the city's culture and history. As you meander through the vibrant markets, you’ll uncover unique finds and one-of-a-kind gifts for even the hardest-to-buy-for friend or relative! From artisanal Christmas gifts to scrumptious festive delicacies, you’ll get a taste of NYC's festive spirit as you indulge in the hustle and bustle of these storied seasonal markets.

• HO, HO, HOme: When your fabulous day of holiday cheer comes to a close, your private luxury vehicle will drop you off at your hotel (or another location of your choice). But rest assured, the memories of your joyful harbor cruise and the delightful holiday markets will last long after the day is over!

  • Restrictions may apply depending on the date and time of the tour.

• You can customize the starting location of the tour to fit your schedule. You can choose to start the tour at your hotel doorstep, at a restaurant where you just finished breakfast or lunch, or at a custom location of your liking.

  • Pick-up or drop-off locations outside of Manhattan may accrue additional time & cost.

  •  Includes 4-hour vehicle & tour guide, visit to some of NYC’s famous holiday markets (such as Winter Village at Bryant Park, Columbus Circle Holiday Market, Union Square Holiday Market, Grand Central Holiday Fair, Brooklyn Flea, Chelsea Flea, Brooklyn Borough Hall Holiday Market).  *Based on time and traffic, not all Holiday Markets will be visited. 

  • Browse hand-crafted goods, local art and winter attire at New York’s best holiday markets. 

•  Cocoa & Caroling Harbor Cruise by Classic Harbor Line (Public) – 1.5 hours; departs from Chelsea Piers (Pier 62) at West 22nd Street:

  • The days before Christmas are usually spent getting into the holiday spirit but many of the activities can be jam-packed with people, making it not so cheery. This holiday cruise in New York City provides plenty of space to enjoy the sights of NYC lit up while listening to fun holiday songs. Homemade cookies and a complimentary drink are also included to make your evening merry and bright. 

  • Listen and sing along to holiday carols

  • See NYC sights lit up at night from a boat decked out in holiday decorations 

  • One complimentary beverage of beer, wine, hot cocoa (spiked if you choose), or Champagne with your cruise ticket
